FC Smart
Fidelio Cruise’s mobile scheme has been designed to accommodate all areas of passenger-related activities on board, making information available on mobile devices throughout the ship.
The add-ons to the company's core SPMS system include:
FC Smart iCrew – for crew members, either serving passengers or undertaking hotel operations
FC Smart iPOS – for point-of-sale activity in restaurants, bars and retail outlets
No longer will passengers have to depend on information available at central service desks, on hard-copy print-outs, or on interactive TV in their cabins; now, cruise guests can browse activities and services available on board on their mobile devices whilst having a drink in the bar or lying by the swimming pool.
Although passenger data, ship-related information, on-board activities and work instructions for crew will greatly enhance communication flows on board, FC President Tony Heuer explains that a key aim of the company's mobile strategy has been to provide cruise lines with a new avenue from which to promote and sell shipboard activities, including spa bookings, shore excursions and reservations in restaurants, thereby generating more revenue.
“These add-ons to our core SPMS system will, of course, benefit passengers and crew by making more information available and broadening passenger choice,” Mr. Heuer explains. “But we believe these developments promise to open a new chapter in on-board operations management, with the use of the very latest mobile technology.”
Last-minute promotions, he says, will now be easier to handle – if the premium restaurant is still only half full a couple of hours before a dinner sitting, for example, hotel managers could offer promotions or discounts which passengers could pick up on their mobile devices.
The new systems will make information available on classic hardware including laptops but also on a wide range of smart devices including iPods, iPads, tablets etc.
